Hi Karen! Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family! My family and I hail from Indiana, northern transplants to the South.  God has blessed me greatly with a wonderful husband, 2 fabulous children and their sweet spouses, and two very precious grandsons!  I enjoy watching sports, especially March Madness, music, reading, and walking with our two golden retrievers.  As a retired school teacher education is very important in our family, and I LOVE learning.  My next “project” to learn is photography!

PARENTSWEB ANNOUNCEMENTS

The welcome screen in ParentsWeb has a box for Announcements.  This box is limited in size and when the number of assignments exceeds the size of the box, parents will have to scroll down to see the rest. The order in which announcements appear in the announcement box is first by the Begin Date of the announcement (ascending), then by the order in which they were created.

For example, an announcement with a Begin Date of 10/20/2010 will appear above an announcement with a Begin Date of 09/15/2010.  However, if you  have multiple announcements with the same Begin Date, then the announcement that was created most recently will be listed first.  

In the following example the Homecoming announcement was created at the beginning of the school year and has a Begin Date of 10/20/2010.  The Permission Slips Due announcement also has a Begin Date of 10/20/2010, but was created on 10/20/2010...

Have you heard about our new Staff Chat Instant Messaging service?

We announced today the launch of our new Staff Chat IM feature that will provide schools with the convenience of instant messaging via RenWeb. Staff can choose from one-on-one messaging, or can broadcast IM messages to larger groups of users.

Bob Wilbers, our founder and president, said that this new feature demonstrates RenWeb's "commitment to offer our member schools a suite of integrated services that is unmatched."

RenWeb clients have long asked for an IM/chat function within RenWeb, hoping to streamline their communications into one vehicle instead of being forced to use a secondary IM service. Brad Lee, RenWeb's CEO, said that this new staff chat functionality is another example of how RenWeb has, over 13 years, consistently applied customer requests to powerful new solutions for clients.

 School lunch has become a lot more complicated over the past several years. It's no longer just a choice between 2% milk and skim: now schools must decide the best way for parents to pay, how to serve more nutritious meals, alert parents to the lunch schedule and ensure that children with food allergies are given appropriate lunches and snacks.

One way for schools to streamline this process is to implement online lunch calendars that permit online lunch ordering and payment. With a couple clicks, a parent can choose which lunches they want to pay for (pizza on Thursdays, for example), and which they'd rather not (perhaps their child doesn't want Pasta Mondays!).

Online lunch ordering and payment also gives the school some real-time advantages for planning and preparation. In RenWeb, we do not record lunch orders until payment is made.
