If you want RenWeb to better support your 1:1 device program or blended learning classrooms, you'll be glad to know that we just announced the launch of RenWeb Learning Management Powered by Moodle and will feature RenWeb's Moodle integration at this year's Power Conference.
Moodle combines digital lesson content with student collaboration tools and powerful online quiz capabilities to create an interactive learning environment that reinforces traditional classroom teaching in a 1:1 environment or blended learning classroom.
RenWeb Learning Management makes it easy for schools to use Moodle by hosting Moodle and integrating it with RenWeb. The integration of RenWeb and Moodle loads students, faculty and courses stored in RenWeb into Moodle, and then updates RenWeb's grade book and parent/student portal with grades, homework assignments and other content originating in Moodle.
Registered Power Conference attendees now have the opportunity to reserve their seats in nearly 8 hours of scheduled seminars on Moodle, including a general demonstration of Moodle and how it integrates with RenWeb, training sessions on Moodle Administration (3 Hrs) and Using Moodle in the Classroom (3 Hrs), and a round table discussion for Moodle users.
All interested attendees should register for the Power Conference prior to May 31 when regular registration ends. After May 31, a $50 late fee assessed to all late registrations.

RenWeb Announces Launch of RenWeb Learning Management powered by Moodle
Loads Moodle with Students, Faculty and Courses Originating in RenWeb
Updates RenWeb's Grade Book and ParentsWeb with Grades, Homework Assignments and other Content Originating in Moodle
Provides Management of Digital Lessons for Schools Launching 1:1 Device Programs and Blended Learning Classrooms
Moodle Hosting by RenWeb Provides One-Stop Shopping for Schools
May 14, 2012 - RenWeb School Management Software today announced the launch of RenWeb Learning Management powered by Moodle, combining the strength of the K-12 industry leader in Web-based student management software with the world's leading open-source learning management system (LMS).
Moodle combines digital lesson content with student collaboration tools and powerful online quiz capabilities to create an interactive learning environment that reinforces traditional classroom teaching.
The integration of RenWeb and Moodle loads students, faculty and courses stored in RenWeb into Moodle, and then updates RenWeb's grade book and ParentsWeb with grades, homework assignments and other content originating in Moodle.
"We are very pleased with how RenWeb's integration with Moodle can simplify a school's use of a learning management system," said Bob Wilbers, RenWeb Founder and President. "We have eliminated all the manual uploads and duplicate key entry of information between RenWeb and Moodle. Plus, our hosting service and training on Moodle makes it that much easier for schools to initially launch and then maintain this important tool."
Brad Lee, RenWeb CEO, stated, "Our integration with Moodle supports the launch of 1:1 device programs and blended learning classrooms by many RenWeb schools. When launching 1:1 programs, schools often focus on management of the devices, but not on management of the digital lessons they will share on the devices. Moodle allows schools to maximize the value of their hardware investment by organizing and sequencing the digital lessons they will share with students, and by saving it for reuse in multiple class sections or in subsequent semesters."
We are pleased to announce that on May 8, RenWeb will allow registered Power Conference attendees to begin reserving seats in the conference sessions they wish to attend. Each registered attendee will receive emailed instructions on how to complete the online form and reserve a seat in their desired sessions. If you haven't already, we encourage you to register for the conference prior to May 8 so you can be included in the first round of session reservations and get your first choices for sessions before classes fill.

Given our company is located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, many of our employees with children in school experienced a tense day on April 3rd as several tornadoes ripped through the DFW metroplex during the middle of the school day. We are all thankful that no one on our team experienced loss or injury due to the storm. I was fortunate that the school my 8-year-old son attends has an instant alert service. I received a message from the school letting me know that the students had been moved to the storm shelter at the school. Then I received a message that student pickup would be delayed until the storms had moved out of the area. Then we received a third message instructing parents that pickup would resume and how it would be coordinated across grades at the school. If your school does not currently have an instant alert service for communicating with your parents anytime, anywhere, I would encourage you to get one. Personally, the school my son attends would not have met my expectations if they had left me in the dark during the height of the storms, and especially at the end of the scheduled school day while tornado warnings still existed in the area. Instead, I felt comfort in knowing the school had taken precautions and I would be instructed what to do when the storms cleared. It was also reassuring to receive information via my cell phone in case my power or landline phone was out of service. I'm sure it was much less hectic for the school as well given they didn't have 500 parents calling at the same time trying to get information. If you need an instantaneous alert service, RenWeb's Parent Alert can meet this need for you. Parent Alert provides instantaneous notifications via text messages to cell phones; voice calls to work, home and cell; and emails to multiple addresses. You can send the alerts directly from RenWeb or from an iPhone or Android device, providing you a convenient and consistent method of communication when it matters most. To sign up for Parent Alert, go to the main screen of RenWeb and click Report Manager, then select the Products and Services category, then select Parent Alert - Sign Up and click print. Fill out the authorization form and your account will be activated within one business day. If you would like to learn more about Parent Alert, we have scheduled FREE webinars that will cover its functionality and demonstrate how to send out different types of alerts. Please click on the link below to sign up for one of these sessions.

RenWeb recently attended the National Association of Independent Schools conference in Seattle, Washington. Bill Gates, the keynote speaker for the event, shared a few thoughts with the more than 4,000 attendees on how technology can bring innovation and creativity to the classroom. In the keynote, Gates said that teaching is not about access to knowledge; textbooks solved that problem long ago. Teaching is making the material fun and relevant. He also spoke about how technology lets you bring in personalization and customization. Say using math in a medical realm, versus the construction realm, versus a space exploration. "Making math relevant to the individual student, putting it in context, making it interesting -- this makes it absolutely easier to learn," said Gates. Gates also mentioned important areas where schools should invest their time and money:
