With the release of Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows 8, RenWeb has conducted extensive testing of our products on the Windows 8 platform and Internet Explorer 10. There are some changes that need to be made to the default settings for RenWeb products to work on Windows 8.

Internet Explorer 10

New with Windows 8, there are two types of web browsers. There can be some confusion in that both are called Internet Explorer 10. The new “tile” based desktop shown below is called Metro.

RenWeb ParentsWeb does not work in the Metro version of Internet Explorer 10. ParentsWeb will work on the “Classic” desktop version of Internet Explorer 10. You will need to change your system to have the classic version of Internet Explorer 10 open any new web link.

To change this setting in Windows 8, click on the Desktop tile.

Click on the Internet Explorer Icon

Click on the “Gear” icon on the top right, then choose “Internet Options”

Click the “Programs” tab

Click “Choose how you open links” and choose, Always in Internet Explorer Desktop

Click “Apply” Then click “OK”.
 

Once you have made this change you will need to turn on compatibility mode for the www.renweb.com site. To do this, Open the classic version of Internet Explorer 10 and navigate to www.renweb.com. When the site opens, click the compatibility icon shown below.

Internet Explorer will remember this change once it has been made.
