The 5 Best Things About Working for Nelnet Business Solutions, According to Employees

The RenWeb team has loved learning more about what it means to be a Nelnet/NBS employee since RenWeb’s acquisition by FACTS Management in 2014.
Recently, the NBS Training and Internal Communication Team was tasked with creating a new look and feel for New Hire Orientation. Part of the initiative was to develop a short video describing the company culture of NBS. From this video, we have gathered the top 5 Reasons to Work at NBS.
1. The Opportunity to Rethink Business Using Design
Everyday 50,000 people are visiting NBS’ websites. User Design and User Interaction are extremely important when thinking about how these various people might be using the websites.”…and one of the top things on our mind is how can we make that experience simple and intuitive but also delightful,” adds Arvind Jagannathan, UX Design Team Lead.
2. Change is Seen as an Opportunity
Jeremy Penner, director of RenWeb University, points out that at NBS, “Change forces you to view things from a different perspective.” Change means that as a business, NBS has to be constantly evolving and “developing and innovating every day.”
3. Associates are Encouraged to Get Involved and Give Back to Their Community
Sarah Noble, Implementation Specialist, volunteers her time, along with several coworkers, delivering lunches with Meals on Wheels. There are several ways to get involved with volunteer work as an employee at Nelnet.
4. You are Valued as a Person
Krista Burbach, Assistant Account Manager, says that at NBS, you are more than just an “anonymous employee”. Not only are you valued as an individual, but coworkers and leadership respect and care about you, and executives are humble and show their appreciation frequently.
5. Level of Interaction with Clients
You are not an anonymous employee and your clients aren’t anonymous either. Mike Spanier, SVP K-12 Sales, is fond of user group meetings that have allowed him to meet with clients and interact with them. Sherry Hughes, Account Manager – HE, says that getting to know clients on a personal level helps her to be more in tune with their needs.
Like DeAnn Wenger, President of NBS, concludes “It’s a great time to be a part of NBS,” and we have a “…fantastic future ahead of us.”
